Wolverhampton Water Supply Pipe Replacement Case Study
Efficient, non-disruptive water supply pipe replacement
Solving water leak issues with expert pipe installation
At MJY Utilities, we recently completed a complex water supply pipe replacement project in Wolverhampton. The customer was experiencing a persistent leak in their old black alkathene pipe, which originally ran hundreds of meters from the main road through neighboring properties. Due to accessibility challenges, replacing the pipe along the same route was not an option.
Working closely with the local water company, a new water connection and boundary box were installed in a more convenient location, just 50 meters from the property boundary. From there, MJY Utilities took over, laying a new 40mm blue water duct through a privately owned car park and utilizing impact moling to install a 25mm MDPE supply pipe across the customer’s land. This allowed for a seamless connection to the existing ½” black alkathene pipe, successfully bypassing the leak and ensuring a secure, long-lasting solution.
Our Solution
To minimise disruption and ensure efficiency, we used impact moling, a trenchless technology, to install the new pipe without major excavation. A Plasson boundary box was also fitted for future maintenance. This will make it easier to access the system if additional work is required in the future, including the potential installation of a check water meter for leak detection. Our approach prevented unnecessary damage to surrounding land while delivering a cost-effective and durable water supply solution.
Our Conclusion
This project in Wolverhampton is another example of how MJY Utilities provides smart, efficient, and long-lasting water supply solutions. By using modern techniques and working alongside local authorities, we successfully resolved a major leak issue while future-proofing the system for our customer.
